A unique introduction to NMITE’s Herefordshire Skills for the Future project, focusing on the importance of Essential Skills for SMEs.

Join us for the first of ten free Employer Engagement Forums running between now and the end of 2023.

This unique event will give you an insight into why Essential Skills are crucial for all businesses and the importance of Skills Ecosystems and fostering a culture of Innovation.

We’ll also provide an overview of our Herefordshire Skills for the Future project and give you time to liaise with our specialist ESF funded business support team to see how they can help your business achieve its goals.

8:00 – 8:40am – Introduction to a Skills Ecosystem – what is it and how can it benefit your business? – Professor Gary C. Wood

Drawing on his experience of stimulating regional skills development, his expertise in employability, professional skills, and entrepreneurship education, Professor Wood will introduce the concept of a Skills Ecosystem. His session will cover a range of topics, including how to set up a Skills Ecosystem and how it can benefit your business.

Professor Wood is the Academic Director of NMITE, a National Teaching Fellow and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

8:50 – 9:50am – Creating and Sustaining Innovation Cultures – Dave Jarman

In a fast-changing and sometimes precarious world, the ability of individuals and organisations to innovate is not just advantageous but critical. But how do organisations simultaneously get the day job done and find capacity to anticipate tomorrow? In this session, Dave will share a range of insights, tools, and approaches for creating and sustaining an enterprising individual mindset and a company culture that supports and sustains innovation.

Dave is an Independent Innovation Consultant and Coach, a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Bristol, a former University Head of Careers, the Head of Enterprise Education, and the Chairman and Director of Enterprise Educators UK (www.enterprise.ac.uk). He is also a fellow of the HEA, the RSA, and an Honorary Fellow of EEUK.
