New £50,000 grant to give fast start to cutting-edge Marches businesses

Published: July 12th, 2022

Businesses in the Marches are being urged to apply for a brand new series of grants worth £50,000 each.

Fast Start is a new £30 million programme from Innovate UK to provide backing for small and micro UK enterprises aiming to grow and realise their highly innovative ideas.

The project will be only open to small and micro-businesses who have not previously received funding from the organisation, including in the Marches area covering Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

The seven technology areas targeted by the grants include robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced materials and manufacturing.

Applicants are urged to consider how their innovation could be part of solving specific challenges of net-zero and self-driven healthcare and wellbeing.

Businesses who are offered grant funding will also benefit from tailored business support through Innovate UK EDGE.

Indro Mukerjee, CEO of Innovate UK, said: “Innovate UK has listened carefully to innovative businesses across the UK, and the new Fast Start scheme is one of the actions that is being taken to help small businesses more rapidly realise the potential of their ideas.

“Fast Start funding will help to develop new innovative products, processes, and services, in sectors that will be key to the UK’s future economic growth and productivity.”

Applications for this brand new competition close on July 26. For more information and to apply for the grants visit https://www.marchesgrowthhub.co.uk/support/fast-start-innovation-grants/?preview_id=10041&preview_nonce=0e8923270a&preview=true
