Two businesses in the Marches area have received prestigious King’s Awards for their contributions to business.
S&A Produce, from Herefordshire, and Shropshire-based Willo Game have both won the King’s Award for Enterprise – Innovation.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise, now in its 58th year, recognises outstanding UK businesses. It was previously known as the Queen’s Award.
S&A Produce is a family-run business in Hereford which has grown to be the leading grower of strawberries, as well as other seasonal berries and asparagus. The company is now a global enterprise, with farms in Spain, Gran Canaria and South America.
The firm’s unique model of knowledge exchange (KE) was recognised as a key part of the award success, and the business prides itself on its sustainable production methods and limited pesticide use.
Willo Game, based in Bishop’s Castle, is one of the country’s leading processors of wild game, and its products can be found on the menu of many top Michelin-starred restaurants as well as across Europe, the Middle East and Far East, where British game is a prized product.
The King’s Award programme is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses entitled to use the award logo for the next five years.
