Marches businesses are being invited to play their part in helping jobseekers over 50s return to work.
DWP’s 50+ Choices programme is part of the government’s new package of support to help over 50s jobseekers back into work and aims to help employers support their workforce from mid-life. It seeks to raise awareness of the benefits of older workers, their skills and experience and help to improve line management education to ensure employees do not need to leave the workforce before they wish to. This may be achieved by:
- Expanding access to employment support
- Integrating work and health
- Offering more support for those aged 50+ considering a return to work
- Working with employers to consider how they recruit, and how they design jobs that offer quality, flexible opportunities
- Working with local leaders to facilitate change
The DWP is keen to gather evidence from Marches’ employers around their approach to employing and supporting those over 50 in the workplace to inform this initiative.
