New Border Controls – 1st January 2021
If your company trades goods anywhere in the world, new border controls that start when the EU Transition period ends will mean that you MUST prepare NOW for change.
Change is inevitable as we will leave the single market, trade agreements we have now may be lost and others won, and our border and customs arrangements will be different from the way they operate today.
Whether you have previously prepared for no deal or not, the environment for traders has changed and recent announcements from Government mean change is more certain than ever. So if you import or export, there’s just 24 weeks to get ready for new systems and processes critical to your business.
Liam Smyth, Director of Trade Facilitation at the British Chambers of Commerce is a customs and trade expert, member of HMRC Joint Customs Consultative Committee, participates in a number of Government Expert trade Advisory Groups and represents British Chambers at the International Chambers Certificate of Origin Council.
