Cyber security is something every business should take seriously. Size of business doesn’t matter – cyber criminals will target anyone!

The Marches Growth Hub Telford has joined forces with key private sector partners to deliver a program of virtual workshops to help Marches based businesses thrive in 2021.

(This online workshop is for businesses within Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire and Herefordshire)

Cyber crime is real and its impact is expensive: In the last 12 months 39% of UK businesses reported having a cyber security attack.

This awareness raising workshop is open to ALL SIZED businesses and will give you a good overview of the things you really need to be aware of to keep your business safe.

The first part of the session will look at the evolution of cyber security;

  • First beginnings of the industry
  • Technological advancements of the 90’s and the adoption of the internet
  • How the attack vectors have changed/ evolved
  • Behavioral changes, business changes and how these have affected the industry and accelerated Cyber Fraud
  • Where the sector is heading and the importance of personal security

The second part will identify how you can be more cyber secure; looking at real life examples to highlight attacks and breaches on both small to medium enterprises and the enterprise landscape as a whole.

You will find out what the attack was, what the impact was, how did the business remediate AND what could have been done to prevent it occurringYou will also be given best practice, hints and tips to improve Cyber Hygiene and make your business more resilient.

About Lockdown Cyber Security

Based at the E-innovation Centre, University of Wolverhampton, Telford Innovation Campus, ‘Lockdown Cyber Security’ promote a layered approach to security training, aimed at All Staff, Business Leaders and C-Suite Executives, as well as advanced security training for technical IT and security staff. They are partners with the ICAEW, providing face to face training, helping to demystify Cyber Security for finance professionals.

Karen has worked in numerous global Enterprise level and many SME businesses. An experienced Finance Director within the IT, service sector and M&A activity. Karen is very interested in digital transformation: AI, Robotics, IoT and 5G. She has held director roles in numerous technology businesses involving big data, cyber security and digital forensics.

She sees cyber security through a different lens, through the eyes of a Finance Director, not a cyber expert. She couldn’t find a cyber methodology that was right, so they created one endorsed by both Academia and Cyber experts. Her moto in life is: be kind, be fair and never give up.

COO – William Taffe

Having held a variety of sales and management roles over the last 10 years, William has dedicated himself towards his passion of Cyber Security; a topic of interest since his early teens. An accomplished presenter, William has spoken on behalf of major British retail banks, RBS, NatWest, the British Dental Association, the Builders Merchants Federation, and numerous professional bodies. In addition, William has been published and featured in Industry magazines, educating on the topic of Digital Risk.
