A special full-day event to help small businesses boost their cyber security is being staged in Hereford.
The free workshop from Focus Digital will put all aspects of cyber security under the microscope – from the risk of cyber crime to the legal measures businesses must take to comply with new legislation.
It is being staged at the Marches Growth Hub’s Hereford base at Skylon Court, Rotherwas, on October 9 and is open to start-ups or SMEs within the Marches LEP area.
Experts from Coventry University Enterprises Business Solutions say the six-hour session will also include the option of an extra six hours of one-to-one support for your business.
The workshop will provide a plain-English overview of the prevailing threats to the digital security of small businesses, as well as providing guidance on strategies for prevention and protection and the importance of building digital strategy into core business processes.
Topics to be considered include the legal requirement under the new General Data Protection regulation to have cyber security systems and policies in place.
The workshop will also provide details of the national accreditation scheme, Cyber Essentials, and guidance on how to self-assess and obtain certification.
The project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
