Manufacturing event helps businesses boost productivity and efficiency

“We’re here to find you the right solutions”

Manufacturing business leaders from across the region have come together to explore cutting-edge productivity strategies, share best practices, and hear from industry experts on how to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market.

Driving Productivity in Manufacturing was organised by Make UK, Invest Telford and Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, and hosted by Ricoh UK Products (RPL) in Telford.

The event is part of a broader economic strategy to strengthen the local manufacturing sector, which represents a significant proportion of Telford’s economy. Invest Telford is committed to helping manufacturers improve efficiency, adopt innovative technologies, and enhance competitiveness to ensure sustainable growth across the region.

It featured keynote speakers from Make UK and Ricoh, as well as real-world case studies demonstrating how businesses have successfully adopted digital technologies to enhance efficiency and profitability.

A highlight was the chance to tour Ricoh’s state-of-the-art facility, gaining first-hand insight into innovative manufacturing processes.

Ricoh UK Products Ltd.’s general manager (operations), Tim Ottley said: “The event was a fantastic opportunity to meet other organisations: there is so much we can learn from other companies. We experience many of the same challenges and by working together we can overcome them.”

Poppy Durnall, HR and operations manager of Wrekin Sheet Metal, said: “I would advise local SMEs to use the support that is out there with platforms such as Invest Telford – it makes everything seem a little less scary and a lot more accessible.”

The Invest Telford team at the Marches Growth Hub provides ongoing support to local manufacturers. This includes business advice, funding guidance, skills development initiatives, and networking opportunities aimed at strengthening local supply chains and boosting productivity.

Liz Wakeham-Jones from Invest Telford, said: “To any manufacturing businesses that are looking to invest and grow in Telford & Wrekin, get in contact with the Invest Telford team at the Marches Growth Hub.

“We are here to support, we’re here to signpost, we’re here to find you the right solutions, we’re here to connect you to the right people in order to support your journey.”
