A new advice service has been launched for businesses and individuals to help them check they are ready for the UK’s final exit from the EU.
The transition period comes to an end on December 31 – with the UK starting new trading arrangements with the European Union from January 1, 2021.
Now the Government has launched a personalised transition tool which both businesses and individuals can use to ensure they have taken the action needed to prepare for the change.
It takes just a few minutes to complete and instantly gives personalised lists of actions for you, your family and your business.
The tool features two special sections specifically for business – one for importing and one for exporting.
The importing tool – at https://www.gov.uk/prepare-to-import-to-great-britain-from-january-2021 – guides businesses through five steps to check they have taken all the necessary steps to comply with new regulations.
They include ensuring you have the correct EORI number and checking what rates of tax and duty you might need to pay.
The exporting device – https://www.gov.uk/prepare-to-export-from-great-britain-from-january-2021 – guides companies through a similar process to check they have everything in place to continue trading overseas from the start of the new year.
Other sections help people take the appropriate action if they preparing to travel to the EU, continuing to live and work in the EU or staying in the UK if you are an EU citizen.
