Developers and companies working in the construction sector in Shropshire are being invited to learn about how they can make costs and efficiency savings by adopting a ‘lean’ method of building at a special event in January.
Shropshire Constructing Excellence, a network for businesses working in the industry, is hosting the morning workshop at University Centre Shrewsbury on January 18.
It will be led by Lean Construction International Ltd, which is a leader in delivering lean construction projects to explore the opportunities for small and medium sized businesses to make efficiency savings and reduce waste during the construction process.
Lean principles will also be considered in the process of designing and building a one off property by AHR Architects of Shrewsbury, which has recently published a book on the topic. Delegates will get to see the principles demonstrated through a local case study presentation.
The event starts at 7.30am with breakfast and networking with the workshop beginning at 8am. It will include a question and answer session and close by 10.30am.
Gareth Emberton, Chair of SCE, said: "Adopting a lean approach to construction is an important issue for the industry and its supply chain businesses. This workshop will provide a detailed introduction from some of the experts in the field about how businesses in Shropshire can apply the principles and start to see the benefits.
"We would welcome non members to come along and find out more and take part in valuable networking opportunities with other organisations working in the industry."
Tickets are free to members of SCE and £20 for non members.
