New business grants for Market Drayton

A dedicated grant scheme of up to £450,000 has been launched to support the growth of new and existing businesses in Market Drayton and those wishing to move to the area.
The Market Drayton Business Grant Scheme is being championed by Shropshire Councillor Roger Hughes.
It is being funded by Shropshire Council and will be delivered by the one-stop-shop for business support in the region, the Marches Growth Hub.
Discretionary, match-funded grants are available to eligible businesses for capital projects that will focus on creating new jobs, increasing turnover, and bring inward investment to the town.
The new initiative is open to start-up and existing small and medium enterprises.
Councillor Hughes said: “The Market Drayton Business Grant Scheme will support the growth and expansion plans of existing businesses, whilst also assisting start-up businesses through capital investment.
“The grant could also be used as an incentive for SMEs moving into the area. It will support our economic growth priorities to drive investment and job creation in Market Drayton and complement existing grant schemes that are currently available through EU funding.
“The flexibility of this scheme means we can address some of the existing gaps in funding for certain sectors which fall outside of the eligibility criteria for funding from the European Regional Development Fund. There could be the potential to fund items such as investments in IT and vehicles, which might not meet the remit for EU funding.”
Businesses can confirm if they meet the criteria through a simple eligibility check via The Marches Growth Hub on 0345 6000 727.
The Market Drayton Business Grant Scheme complements The Marches Growth Hub’s newly launched 'Get Growing' campaign, which focuses on supporting smaller businesses to access the support and the finance they need to expand.
