International trade hub set to roll into Hereford

Published: March 1st, 2019

A roadshow offering expert advice to businesses looking to grow their export markets will take place in Hereford next month.

The Department for International Trade‘s Export Hub truck will roll into town for the Business Growth & Export Show on March 19.

The hub – a special truck equipped with a travelling trade show – aims to support businesses looking to expand their export markets or make a start at trading internationally.

Open to visitors from 8am to 12noon the show, at Hereford Racecourse, will begin with breakfast and networking.

Guest speaker Joff Sharpe, one of Britain’s most dynamic and esteemed business leaders and currently head of operations at British Land PLC, will then talk to business owners about his journey from SAS officer to leading business figure including running an internet company for Rupert Murdoch.

A business expo featuring exhibitors who can help support business growth and export will be available and DiT’s International Trade Advisors on board the truck will give advice on funding and how to take your business overseas.

The free show is being staged by the Marches Growth Hub, the one-stop-shop for business support in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, in partnership with Connect 2 Grow, a scheme funded by the European Regional Development Fund and delivered by the University of Wolverhampton via the Business Solutions Centre.

Lyndsay Francis, Economic Development Officer at the growth hub, said the export truck would be a major pull for businesses already trading internationally and those looking to break into new markets.

"Advisors on board the Export Hub can offer business owners expert advice on how to take their business overseas and also provide them with information on products and services to make this process more straightforward. It really is an opportunity not to be missed."

The show will include exhibitions from organisations which support businesses with their international trade and experts from the growth hub will also be on hand to advise on all aspects of business.

The event gets underway at 8am, with Joff Sharpe due to speak at 9am.
