Tourism businesses across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin are being urged to shout about their success in a major new regional competition.
Entries are now open for the inaugural West Midlands Tourism Awards – designed to show off the best venues, experiences, accommodation and people in the tourism sector across the area.
The awards aim to attract more visitors, events and investment into the region, and are free to enter with a glitzy awards ceremony taking place in February 2020.
The 15 award categories recognise everything from small visitor attractions to international destinations and there’s even a prize for the Camping, Glamping, Holiday Park of the Year.
But if you’re running a camping, glamping or holiday park business, or if you’re offering your visitors a truly amazing and immersive experience then you will have to be quick.
The closing date for these categories is September 27 whilst the remaining 13 categories close on Friday October 25.
Nicola Hewitt, commercial director at the West Midlands Growth Company which aims to attract visitors to the region, said: "The West Midlands Tourism Awards will help local companies to make their mark by winning recognition from industry peers.
"The awards also give us an opportunity to celebrate the region as a unique, engaging destination and highlight the critical role that tourism plays in its economic success.
"We wholeheartedly encourage everyone involved in the tourism sector to join us in celebrating this vibrant industry."
W inners in the regional competition will get the chance to compete in the national Awards for Excellence in June 2020.
The awards will be independently judged and run with local partners including Reach plc, the West Midlands Combined Authority and Shakespeare’s England.
