A new team of advisers recruited for the Marches Growth Hub to deliver one-to-one support across the county is delivering immediate results – and winning widespread praise.

More than 40 independent specialists have been appointed to support the hubs in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, offering dedicated support to businesses to help them with their growth ambitions as the region recovers from the impact of the Covid pandemic.

Yasmin Sulaman, Marches Growth Hub business support lead, said the recruitment of the advisers meant the hub was now offering unparalleled support for the county’s business community.

“Our independent expert advisers complement the work of the hubs themselves and are delivering impressive results for the companies they have been working with.”
In Shropshire, Shrewsbury bakery Planet Doughnut has received one-to-one help to access grant funding, develop its business plan, work on its marketing and plan for further growth.

Matthew Woodhead, of Woodhead Consulting has helped Shropshire-based Jenna Blair Yoga with her business plan as she prepared to move to new premises.

Planet Doughnut founder Duncan McGregor said: “The Growth Hub has been great for supporting me literally from the get-go.

“They have always been easy to contact and work with and the help and time I have been given has been instrumental in obtaining grant funding and driving the business forward.”

Jenna said: “I cannot tell you how helpful Matthew Woodhead has been regarding my future business plans. He has been a pleasure to work with and I am very grateful.”

In Telford & Wrekin, Halesfield-based Autoshine and Tinting has been working with Will Westley of UK Mentor consultancy to create new revenue streams and grow the business.

Owner Duncan Richards said: “Through Will I’ve gained an ongoing support structure, great focus and accountability which is accelerating our progress.”

And Geraldine Banks of the Profile 2000 health and beauty spa at Telford’s Ramada said adviser Chris Gough, of CGR Business Solutions, had “worked wonders for the business” and she would “highly recommend” this support.

Chris helped look at what the business could still do during lockdown, took a deep dive into the financials and analysed the cost base so that the business was able to restore profitability back to pre-Covid levels.
