The new Marches Careers Hub was officially launched in April at an online event watched live by over 160 people.

The event, which was organised by the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership and The Careers and Enterprise Company, brought together employers, schools, colleges and Enterprise Advisers from across the Marches to launch the new service hub, which will unify careers support for young people across the region.

The livestream recording, which is available to watch on The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership YouTube channel, featured special guests — television presenter and author, Radzi Chinyanganya and live scribe, Hannah Williams from Scribble Inc.

Eden Ihle-Vance, Marches LEP Careers Hub Lead said, “The Careers Hub focuses on improving careers outcomes for young people by delivering the Gatsby Benchmarks, a framework of eight principles of good careers guidance.

“To welcome over 160 people to the launch means that careers support is hugely important to those across the region, and we look forward to working with anyone that has been inspired by the event that wants to get involved.”

Those interested in finding out more have plenty of ways to show their support, including the option of becoming an Enterprise Adviser and improving careers outcomes directly with schools and colleges.

Businesses also have opportunities to address skills shortages, develop corporate social responsibility and influence talent pipelines by offering mentoring, work experience, sharing information about industry sectors or developing simulated HR and recruitment activities.

Marches LEP Chair, Mandy Thorn added, “The Marches Career Hub will provide a network that will support the next generation as they consider their future options. The launch event provided insight into the range of careers options available for young people, and we would urge businesses from across the Marches to engage with the hub and get involved.”
