Companies in the Marches are to benefit from a unique new five year campaign that will present real-time export opportunities businesses can apply for instantly, in a move to get 100,000 additional companies exporting by 2020.Exporting is GREAT is the government’s most ambitious export campaign to date. For the first time, it will present real-time export opportunities across media outlets and digital channels to businesses – of all sizes, from across sectors and every region of the UK – that they can apply for immediately.
The platform, announced at the start of "Export Week" (November 9 to 13) will go live with hundreds of business opportunities, which will be available at www.exportingisgreat.gov.uk. Around 1000 more will come online each month.
In an increasingly globalised and digitised world, the potential for UK companies to find new customers and lucrative markets beyond the UK has never been greater, and companies that sell overseas are more productive, innovative, profitable and sustainable than those that don’t.
Gill Hamer, Director of the Marches LEP which recently launched the Marches Growth Hub as a ‘one stop shop’ for all local and national business advice, comments:
"Many businesses are already trading on an international platform, but for those that aren’t, the prospect of making the move in to a new market can feel like a leap in to the unknown.
"The team of business advisors available through the Marches Growth Hub already provides insight and guidance to businesses of all sizes that are interested in extending their reach. The added focus that UKTI’s ‘Export Week’ will bring to the exporting options open to businesses in the region, should be warmly received and I’d encourage all interested companies to review the events being staged."
Following on from Export Week, UK Trade & Investment’s West Midland’s team will be running a regional roadshow to provide businesses with an immediate opportunity to follow up on exporting questions that they may have.
The ‘Exporting is GREAT Roadshow’ will be at the Welcome Break service area at Junction 4 of the M54 at Shifnal on Thursday November 19 between 1100 and 1400 and will offer interested businesses the chance to meet with qualified advisors in order to receive international trade advice; better understand international banking; consider freight and logistics within international export; appreciate differences in international communications and also access live sales leads from across the world.
Richard Smith from UKTI, concludes: "Refreshments will be available and I’d urge businesses of all sizes to come along and meet with us as I’m sure we’ll be able to help them all."
