A veteran of four America’s Cup challenges, Percy’s team Artemis Racing spun out into Artemis Technologies with Iain’s vision to see how America’s Cup technology could play a part in the decarbonisation of the maritime industry. Earlier this year a consortium led by the business won a £33m innovation grant to help develop autonomous zero emission ferries. With a further investment of £27m Iain aims to build the world’s most environmentally friendly high-speed ferries capable of carrying up to 350 passengers.
Passionate about the oceans, tacking the climate emergency and developing the world’s first zero-emissions fast ferry, the economics graduate founded Artemis Technologies, in 2017. He has led the business’ transition from a sailing services provider, to an applied technologies company focusing on green innovations for maritime transportation with a mission to harness America’s Cup technology and lead the decarbonisation of the maritime industry. Artemis Technologies is also the lead partner of the Belfast Maritime Consortium which is aiming to return commercial shipbuilding to the city, in partnership with industry leaders in the maritime, aerospace, and automotive sectors, academia and public bodies.
Iain will be discussing his journey, experiences and learnings through an ‘in conversation’ with Solange Dive- Chamberlain, Chief Operating Officer and Climate lead for Commercial Banking at NatWest Group and John Ferris, Entrepreneur Development Manager in Ulster Bank. This event will be hosted virtually, with an opportunity to ask questions.
