Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Free Trade Agreement Business Roundtable

Do you export goods or services to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar or Oman and are experiencing exporting issues or trading challenges? If so, we would like you to meet with colleagues from the Negotiation Team at the Department of Business and Trade to share your experiences, successes, and challenges to inform their on-going discussions.

The Gulf Cooperation Council

The GCC is made up of dynamic, high-income economies that are home to 54 million people and have a collective economy of $16 trillion. We know that UK businesses have struggled with trade issues including tariffs on goods, barriers to exporting services, financial and operational constraints alongside a complex regulatory environment. A deal could cut red tape and high tariffs, making it easier and cheaper for UK companies to sell into.

In 2022 the GCC was equivalent to the UK’s 7th largest export market and total trade was worth £61.3 billion. An FTA will be a substantial economic opportunity and a significant moment in the UK-GCC relationship. Government analysis shows that, in the long run, a deal with the GCC is expected to increase trade by around 16%.

Have your say

Join us at one of two Business Engagement Roundtables, each focussed on either goods or services, to discuss the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Free Trade Agreement covering UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar. With five rounds of negotiations already completed we are keen to meet with businesses to explore the benefits of the agreement.

The Department is keen to hear from businesses across the UK about how they view the market in GCC countries, and how they see an FTA benefiting them. To discuss the latest position and how it relates to your business please join us.

The Roundtable discussions are scheduled to last for approximately 90 minutes. There will also be the opportunity to speak with the Negotiation and Utilisation Teams over a networking lunch or afternoon refreshments.
