The Employment Law Special Interests Group (SIG) will be an interactive discussion led by Nicholas Kennan. Nicholas is a barrister at Cornwall Street Chambers in Birmingham with a civil, employment and regulatory practice. As a former solicitor, Nicholas understands that a barrister can be an integral part of the client’s legal team.
Nicholas has acted for both employees and employers in the employment tribunal in unfair and constructive dismissal claims.
Although content to represent either party in an employment tribunal claim, Nicholas has generally acted for more employers; he is able to assist HR consultants or in-house HR managers by clarifying the law in an area which is constantly changing and advising on the commercial management of tribunal claims.
Nicholas also has experience of whistleblowing and discrimination claims, interim relief applications and advising employers in equal pay claims.
The topics for discussion will be confirmed nearer the time.
Attendees of this session will be involved in an interactive discussion; a short presentation will initially be given by Nicholas and whole group discussions will then be facilitated/encouraged.
The event will commence with informal networking at 6pm with tea, coffee and biscuits provided; the session will commence by 6.30pm and will end by 8.30pm.
Free parking is available at the venue.
Professional photography and video production will be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.
