Businesses in Shropshire will be able to apply for and receive European funding until 2019 despite fears over continued support following the Brexit vote.
The Marches Growth Hub has joined forces with specialist advisers on EU funding for a special event aimed at encouraging companies to tap into support on offer.
In the last year, businesses in the Marches secured more than £600,000 through EU funded support schemes. And the specialist Marches EU Funding Technical Assistance team will be going through what’s on offer during a session at Shrewsbury Town Football Club on November 29.
The aim of the event is to highlight funding streams available and provide valuable guidance and advice for businesses that want to apply.
Speakers will come from the Marches Growth Hub, the EU Funding Technical Assistance Team for the Marches, the Business Growth Programme, the European Bioenergy Research Institute, the Built Environment Climate change Innovations, the Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Network, the Innovative Product Support Service, and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Programme.
Business support organisations and institutions including the University Centre Shrewsbury, Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, Impetus, Good2Great and many more will also be on hand to support and advise delegates.
It will begin with a business breakfast at 8am, followed by a full programme of speakers and ends with a networking lunch between 12pm and 1pm.
Gary Spence, from the Marches EU Funding Technical Assistance team, said: "There are lots of funding opportunities out there for Shropshire businesses. We hope this event will help businesses make sense of what’s out there and to reduce some of the mystique that surrounds EU funding."
Mandy Thorn MBE, Chairman of the Shropshire Business Board, added: We’re delighted that there will be a range of business support organisations also available to meet local businesses face-to-face on the day.
"There are significant EU funds available for businesses and we want to make sure that Shropshire businesses get their fair share."
