Global Minds Limited (GML) is a software services company specialising in cloud and digital technologies. The company is a remarkable success story of technical competency, trusted advisory support, disciplined delivery and impeccable program management.
GML was launched in 2010 when Shashank Angadi and Sachin Jaysekhar quit their jobs in the NASDAQ listed software company Oracle Corporation and then signed up as an authorised reseller and implementation partner of Oracle products.
The company experienced steady growth to 15 staff by early 2018 but has now expanded to 33 permanent employees and an annual group turnover of £5 million – and is targeting further significant growth since its move to Telford from London last year.
GML is the software services provider for leading household brands in UK, Ireland, Abu Dhabi, Norway and USA.
How the Marches Growth Hub helped
The Marches Growth Hub Telford & Wrekin, which is delivered by Telford & Wrekin Council, has worked alongside the GML executive board throughout its move to Telford and is an integral part of the recent success story.
GML’s executive board decided to establish a software centre of excellence in Telford in April 2019 and also make the town the company’s headquarters.
They turned to the team at the Marches Growth Hub Telford & Wrekin and Enterprise Telford, who provided guidance on funding, assisted in the search for premises, enabled the set-up of the lease for the new Bishton Court offices and have maintained communication and support during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hema Kumar, Executive Director at GML, said: “The Enterprise Telford team have been outstanding since we first contacted them, having found the hub’s details on the internet.
“They have given us excellent guidance and support and helped us find exactly the right offices in the most desirable location in the town centre. The team arranged a swift lease so as to start the project.
“The hub team also guided us through an application for a £50,000 grant through the ERDF Business Growth Programme 2.
“The grant helped the company to create a modern, vibrant and ergonomically approved office with all the necessary infrastructure. This has raised our brand image with both customers and employees. The funds also proved vital for the design of the workplace and infrastructure to meet new social distancing standards.”
Hema said the team at the Growth Hub – led by manager Claire Critchell – also maintained continuous communication and relationship with GML on available business support, business mentoring throughout the project execution phase and also during the Covid pandemic.
GML executives also took advantage of Growth Hub leadership training programmes and the company benefitted from introductions to local universities, chambers of commerce and business organisations to help it recruit apprentices.
The move to Telford has resulted in an exponential increase in demand for GML’s services and it is now operating with 33 staff and an annual turnover of £5 million.
