The Marches Growth Hub is launching a new campaign this month to support businesses looking to take advantage of digital marketing to grow their enterprises.
From events focusing on e-commerce for SMEs to interactive sessions on social media for employers, the Get Digital campaign will help to drive home the importance of online marketing skills for both business owners and their staff.
It is being spearheaded by the Marches Growth Hub, the single point of access for business support in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
The virtual hub, at www.marchesgrowthhub.co.uk will feature experts tips and advice on digital marketing for businesses and the three hub sites in Hereford, Shrewsbury and Telford will host #getdigital dedicated events running from the end of August to mid-November.
Chairman of the Marches Growth Hub, Paul Hinkins, said: "Thousands of people have attended events at our hubs and overwhelmingly popular have been those which focused on digital techniques to build business.
"This is not surprising when recent research has revealed that the average person now spends more time online than watching TV, reading newspapers & magazines combined. Businesses know that online is where their customers are, and they want to know how to reach them.
"This is why we are launching our new drive to support businesses who want to benefit from digital marketing and we expect a huge amount of interest in the events we have planned."
Many will take place during National Social Media Week in the second week of September, and as well as sessions at the hub sites, University Centre Shrewsbury and a special event will also be held at Bridgnorth company Grainger & Worrall.
From how to sell on Facebook, using Twitter to drum up sales leads or top tips on how to make sure your website is being found by Google, the campaign will directly help businesses in the Marches both understand why and learn how to take advantage of digital marketing techniques.
Marches Growth Hub Shropshire has organised the event at Bridgnorth manufacturer Grainger & Worrall. This will feature a host of expert-led sessions and will also look at therisks associated with digital business, featuring a speaker from West Mercia Police on how to protect yourself online.
And at Marches Growth Hub Telford & Wrekin, the legal aspects of social networking for employers will be under the spotlight and there will also be a focus on business intelligence.
And at Marches Growth Hub Herefordshire, businesses will be able to learn how to protect their profit through cyber security – a hugely important issue for companies when you consider that during the past 12 months, one in three companies has been affected by cybercrime. The total cost to small businesses is estimated to range from £75,000 – £310,000."
