A new event planned for Hereford will see business owners falling in love this Valentines Day.

But it won’t be a case of romantic candlelit dinners and red roses. Instead, it will a chance for them to fix a date with their mobile phone, score points on social media and venture into the unknown with new technology.

The Love Digital event on February 14 is being hosted by the Marches Growth Hub, the one-stop-shop for business support in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin and Connect 2 Grow, a scheme funded by the European Regional Development Fund to increase the level of digital skills.

Open to start-ups and SMEs from 10am at the Three Counties Hotel in Hereford, it will be an opportunity for business owners to learn from experts on how to maximise the use of digital technologies, data and communications within their organisation.

The event, organised in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton, will feature workshops led by Shooting Reels and Sly Sprint and Guest speaker Lucas Karemo, business owner and trainer with Google’s Digital Garage, will share his knowledge on how businesses can integrate a digital strategy into their growth and marketing plans.

Lyndsay Francis, Economic Development Officer for the Marches Growth Hub Hereford, said: "This event is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to gain a better understanding of how digital technologies, data and communications can be used effectively on a day to day basis to help grow their organisation.

She said: "The workshops are designed to be hands on and practical so that business owners can learn new skills and we are delighted to have Google Garage expert Lucas Karemo joining us.

"He will be speaking about digital marketing planning and sharing his knowledge which will help businesses to focus their strategies in 2019.

"The event should be very informative for everyone and will help business owners to develop a positive and hopefully loving relationship with all things digital."

The workshops will demonstrate the power of mobile technology to guests by helping them to fully utilise the applications and capabilities of their mobile phones to create low-cost videos to enhance PR and marketing.

Guests will also have the chance to learn about Virtual and Augmented Reality and what it can do for business.

The free event – which includes a buffet lunch – will also feature an expo by companies and organisations providing advice and support to businesses on a range of subjects including drone technology, GDPR, cyber security, e-commerce technology, digital programmes and software, SEO and digital marketing. There will also be an opportunity for networking.

The Connect 2 Grow project which aims to enhance digital skills within business is managed by the Business Solutions Centre Hereford, supported by the University of Wolverhampton.
