A new scheme to take expert business help and advice to all parts of Shropshire has been launched by the county’s growth experts.
The Marches Growth Hub Shropshire says it will take its Let’s Do Business In roadshow to all parts of the county throughout the year after its successful launch in Market Drayton earlier this month.
The hub teamed up with CREST, the Centre for Research into Environmental Science and Technology at University Centre Shrewsbury, Shropshire Libraries and the Digital Solutions project at UCS to stage the event at Market Drayton Library.
Anna Sadler, from the Marches Growth Hub, said the event had attracted a range of businesses looking for help and advice and would now be repeated at different towns around the county.
“I spoke to 10 businesses at the event, 60% of which were start-ups. Speaking to these businesses was very inspiring and highlights how vibrant the start-up economy is in Market Drayton.
“The success of this event at helping us to reach out to new businesses affirms the need for the Marches Growth Hub Shropshire to maintain its campaign of outreach work within Shropshire. We are looking forward to visiting Market Drayton again in July, and rolling out the campaign to our market towns.”
Lisa Bradbury, of Market Drayton-based Trrrio Training and Consultancy, welcomed the event.
“As a small company specialising in restorative practice as a tool to modify harmful behaviour, I attended the Market Drayton business advice event as I was struggling to make meaningful connections.
“All the specialists on hand helped me with ideas and, more importantly, they were able to give me named links and introductions to people who may be be able to assist.
”Market Drayton library manager Alastair Pack said he was delighted at the number of businesses who attended the event.
“The remarkable success of our business support event tells me there was a local need for this, and we met it.
“The enthusiastic response from business owners – some of whom learnt of it from following Echo the Library Gecko on Facebook – means we’ll be running more of these events, and soon.”
