Business across the Marches are being urged to enter a national awards scheme to honour the country’s most vibrant companies.
The Amazon Scale-Up Awards recognise Britain’s best companies and the entrepreneurs, founders and leaders who run them – with 17 award categories and a special ‘Business Leader of the Year’ accolade.
But businesses are being warned they need to get their entries in quick – with a closing date of November 15.
The awards are free to enter and open to all businesses based in the UK with the winners announced at a prestigious gala dinner on Park Lane, London, on March 20 2020.
The national awards – dubbed the Oscars of the business world – give large and small companies the opportunity to be showcased on the national stage with unprecedented media coverage and unrivalled kudos for finalists and winners.
Categories include start-up business of the year, scale-up business of the year, social enterprise of the year, franchise business award, retail/e-commerce business award, leisure & hospitality business award, manufacturing excellence award and family business of the year.
There are also awards for employer of the year, rising star and entrepreneur of the year.
A scale-up business is defined as one that has an average annualised return of at least 20% in the past three years, with at least 10 employees in the beginning of the period.
They contribute a huge amount to the UK economy and according to the ScaleUp Institute generated more than £1.3tn in combined turnover in the last financial year; compared to a turnover of £1.9tn by all SMEs combined.
Scale-up businesses also employ approximately 3.4 million people across all sectors and areas of the UK economy.
The Amazon Scale-Up Awards will highlight the leading companies and individuals that are operating in and around this space – providing a platform for scale-up entrepreneurs, SMEs and corporates to celebrate their success.
