New guidance issued over Export Health Certificates

The Hub News Team | 26.1.21

checkchangegoNew guidance has been issued covering the export of some animal products in the wake of the UK leaving the EU.

Since the end of the transition period, exports of certain products of animal origin (POAO) from Great Britain to the European Union require an export health certificate signed by councils' Food Competent Certifying Officers (FCCOs).

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has updated the guidance for FCCOs to provide answers to common issues that have arisen since the end of the Transition Period.

The new guidance covers areas including:

· Stamping and signing

· Time of departure

· Commodity codes

· Description of Goods Box

· Re-exporting POAO to the EU

· Certified Copies of EHCs

· Composite Products

Defra says the guidance will continue to be updated as new information becomes available.
