A nationwide mentoring programme which pairs senior figures from some of the UK’s biggest companies with ambitious SME leaders has been opened up to more businesses.
The Mentoring for Growth programme which was launched nationally last year, has now been opened up to almost all businesses as long as they can demonstrate growth potential and/or interest in the protection of jobs.
Companies across the Marches are being urged to take advantage of the scheme which provides expert support and advice to help them improve their productivity.
Mentors offer their personal expertise, inspiration and practical advice on a one-to-one basis to help firms overcome any potential barrier to growth. The programme, run by Be the Business, also benefits mentors who are exposed to ambitious and growing small firms.
Sir Charlie Mayfield, chairman of Be the Business, said: "Mentoring is a proven way to help ambitious leaders become even more successful, and with Mentoring for Growth, some of the UK’s leading businesses are lending their experience."
The scheme had originally been restricted to companies with a turnover of £2m and 10 FTE employees, but this has now been removed.
Businesses can sign up for a 12-month partnership with a mentor, aimed at helping them grow, or a special 12-week scheme to help recovery from Covid-19 and protect jobs.
A spokesman said: "We are now able to consider any business of almost any size, but they must be able to demonstrate growth potential and/or interest in the protection of jobs. As before, these can be from any sector including charities and social enterprises.
"Mentoring with relationships lasting 12 months to support business growth continues to be available and mentoring with relationships lasting 12 weeks to support the protection of jobs will remain available for a short while longer."
