Marches businesses urged to grasp NHS supply chain opportunity

Medical suppliesBusinesses across the Marches have been urged to sign up for an event which could help them win new contracts with the NHS.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is working with the Department of Health to open up supply chain opportunities in the health service to SMEs and start-up businesses.

The FSB is now staging a special event for the West Midlands region – including the Marches – at The Innovation Centre on Longbridge Technology Park in Birmingham on May 21 and wants to hear from any companies interested in the scheme.

The event, which starts at 1.30pm, is aimed at suppliers of products rather than services, and companies will need to give some basic information about themselves as a pre-qualification requirement.

An FSB spokesman said: "The NHS spends around £110 billion per year, so we are working with their procurement team to co-host a series of regional events to help small businesses understand how they might supply into the NHS.

"The NHS Procurement team will explain their procurement process and how it has changed to encourage small businesses to tender. They will also highlight their ‘open for business to SME’s’ procurement path.

"This is an unmissable opportunity to find out more about becoming part of the NHS supply chain."

Interested companies should send 3-5 bullet points giving their business name, the products they can supply and primary contact details to [email protected] by Friday May 10.

Spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served and most relevant basis.
