Herefordshire businesses urged to grab last remaining places at new service launch

A new service to help people experiencing mental illness find work will be launched at a special free event in Herefordshire.

And a limited number of places are still available at the event on September 23 for businesses interested in supporting the scheme.

The Individual Placement Support (IPS) Scheme in Herefordshire is a partnership between employment and training charity Landau and the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust to help people who have experienced mental health illness move successfully into sustained employment.

The launch event at Shire Hall in Hereford gets under way at 4pm and will include the chance to network and promote your business, interactive sessions around tacking the stigma around mental health, keynote speakers from NHS/Landau and around-the-table discussions.

Organisers of the event said: “Mental health is part of everyday life and is now very much at the forefront of society in both our personal lives and in particular for employers who require the knowledge and understanding of employing, retaining and supporting their workforce with mental health.

“By attending this event you will gather an insight into the support that is out there for individuals who have experienced mental health illnesses, but really want to work and be valued and recognised by employers.

“Also by giving that individual a chance to prove their skills and ability to work, you could be changing their life in a very positive way.”

The IPS model has been shown to be 2-3 times more effective than some other employment support approaches.
