EU Exit Businesses warned to take action now

Published: August 5th, 2020

Export_1Businesses across the Marches have been urged to get ready for new trading conditions which will come into force when the UK completes its withdrawal from the European Union.

A 12-month transition period ends on the last day of this year – with January 1 2021 marking the UK’s first full day under its new trading status.

The Government has now launched an advertising campaign to warn businesses of the deadline and make sure they are ready for the new trading rules which will be in effect from January 2021.

A Government spokesman said that every business should take action to make sure they were geared up for the change.

"There are concrete steps you can take to minimise disruption and take advantage of new opportunities.

To help you get going, here are three things you can do:

1. Head to GOV.UK/transition to take a short survey and receive a personalised list of actions for you and your business to take.

2. Sign up to email alerts to stay up to date with any further changes.

3. Plan ahead and take the steps needed to complete your actions and prepare your business for the new trading rules.

If you have any questions about preparing for the end of the transition period and you can’t find answers at GOV.UK/transition, fill out the enquiry form and one of our experts will point you in the right direction."
