applicationsopenBusinesses across the Marches are being urged to enter the UK’s most prestigious enterprise awards – and help showcase the region’s rich track-record of innovation and success.

Entries are now open for The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, recognising the outstanding work of businesses and enterprising individuals from across the UK.

The awards – first established in 1966 – honour outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of innovation, international trade, sustainable development, and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

Paul Hinkins, Chairman of the Marches Growth Hub, said the awards were a hugely respected accolade that had immense credibility abroad and helped British companies to stand out in a competitive global market.

"The Queen’s Awards are the perfect way for any business in the Marches region to get a Royal seal of approval for the fantastic work they do.

"They are free to enter and offer an unrivalled opportunity for businesses to celebrate their success in a way which is proven to boost their reputation, national and international reach and staff morale.

"We have a range of world-class business across our region – both large and small – and I would urge all of them to take this opportunity to showcase their success through this most prestigious of award schemes."

To qualify your company needs to be based in the UK and file tax returns with HMRC. You need to have at least two full time employees or part time equivalents. Your business can be commercially orientated or not for profit but you do need to demonstrate a strong corporate social responsibility.

Winners are invited to a Royal reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Her Majesty The Queen, and can fly The Queen’s Award flag at their main office as well as use the emblem on marketing materials.

Winning businesses are also given a Grant of Appointment and a commemorative crystal bowl. The awards are valid for five years.

Applications close on September 12 at midday and the winning businesses will be announced next March.
