Edgmond Foods

Food sector manufacturer Edgmond Foods is to create at least 17 new jobs after securing £150,000 in grant funding. The company was signposted to the grants by the Marches Growth Hub.

The grant, from the Green Shoots Plus scheme, will also allow Edgmond Foods to invest in capital equipment needed to meet demand from a growing order book.

The company, based in Newport, was directed to the availability of the funding by the Marches Growth Hub – a single point of access for businesses looking for advice and support.

The Marches Growth Hub includes a business-friendly website at www.marchesgrowthhub.co.ukand helpline on 0345 6000 727 as well as three physical hubs in Hereford, Shrewsbury and Telford.

The hub at Telford supported Edgmond Foods in its application to the Green Shoots Plus scheme which aims to help small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) create new jobs and promote growth in the region.

The company, which specialises in the manufacture of quiches, tarts and flans, received the maximum amount of £150,000. This will help them to take on 17 staff including two at a senior level plus six skilled workers.

Based at Audley Avenue Business Park, Edgmond Foods has also invested in new equipment to cope with the demands of increasing orders from their major customers, which include major supermarkets.

The company is currently undergoing significant expansion and has seen their annual sales turnover increase by 60% since 2012.
