Businesses are invited to hear from a panel of experts, including speakers from Jaguar Land Rover and BT, at the annual conference of the region’s Local Enterprise Partnership.

The event on April 27 will see the launch of the Annual Report of the Marches LEP and hear an update on how the economy of the region is faring.

‘Meeting the Challenges’ is the theme of the annual conference that will focus on skills, connectivity and cyber security.

Chairman of the Marches LEP, Graham Wynn OBE, said: "We are inviting business representatives from across the region to be part of this event. We want their views and their input into how they, and we as a LEP, are Meeting the Challenges of economic growth.

"We also want to update and engage the business community in our work as we, and our local authority partners, deliver projects that will create thousands of homes and jobs in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. We will also be hearing from a guest speaker on the development of the Midlands Engine, and how the Marches is playing its part."

More than 350 people are expected to attend the event, which will run from 9am to 12.30pm, and include a panel and audience discussion.

Among the guest speakers are cyber security expert DCI Sean Paley of Warwickshire & West Mercia Police and two speakers on broadband and connectivity – Bill Murphy, Managing Director for Next Generation Broadband Access, and Malcolm Corbett, CEO of the Independent Networks Co-operative Association.

Mr Wynn added: "If we are to succeed in our ambitions both here, and in the wider Midlands region, we need to break down the barriers to growth that Marches businesses face.

"Our annual conference is about how we are Meeting the Challenges and also a chance for us to actively engage with businesses in the programme of work we are tasked with to develop the economy on their behalf, and on behalf of everyone who lives and works here."

Places at the conference are limited and anyone who would like to attend should register their interest by emailing [email protected]
